The Love in Action Soup Kitchen is a blessing to those in need. Since February, lunch boxes have been provided for the poor and destitute. Sister John shares what they have achieved and how the volunteers of the kitchen play a huge part in the success of this program. “We are trying to spread a culture in which volunteers serve and respect the poor, not themselves. Spiritual education will also be provided for volunteers.”
The Love In Action Food Kitchen served a total of 10,690 meals in 2022. This was on Wednesdays and Fridays. (This limit of two days was due to COVID-19 restrictions and budget issues). In 2023, from January to March, there were 3,300 meals served on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. There had been some issues in distributing the food, but Sister John was able to secure many volunteers which adds to the success of the program. Many people are grateful for these meals as they might be the only source of food they see all week.
