Franciscan Sisters’ Special Educational Institute
The Order of the Franciscan Sisters, Servants of the Cross (FSC) originates from Poland, and was founded in 1918 by Mother Elizabeth Roza Czacka.
It is the first female monastic Order to be founded in Poland, after that country re-gained independence. The ministry’s mission is very special and unique: They are called to serve the physically and spiritually blind. The Sisters learn to serve the blind throughout their lives in a way that may help them to be useful members of society and to be apostles of God’s love.
In 2006, Mother Elizabeth, herself afflicted with blindness, began the ministry in Rwanda. However, this mission is focused on the most needy and vulnerable children.
