Donum Josephinum Seminary School
Bigard Memorial Seminary in Enugu, one of the seminaries in Igboland, Nigeria, is the largest Catholic seminary in the world. The enrollment in the seminary is 1000.
The Donum Josephinum Seminary is seminary that follows the guidelines of priestly formation mandated by the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria. The goal is not just to develop a well-rounded person, a prayerful person or an experienced Practitioner of the faith but rather one who develops the spiritual development of his calling in the Church and the greater calling to expand the mission of the Church by serving others. Seminarians must have a deeply rooted love for Jesus, and at Donum Josephinum have an opportunity to grow in their understanding of “servant leaders” by engaging in a wide variety of ministerial experiences with the poor, simple and working class people in communities. Global Humanitarian Mission in partnership with Marian Missionaries Ad Reginum Dei will not only train seminarians in life skills, and the love of God and his word, they will be teaching Christ to others in the form of service, training them to be technicians, plumbers, electricians and much more at Donum Josephinum before joining the Major Seminary in Enugu and Ikot- Ekpene. Construction is underway, Donum Josephinum is part of a greater vision of the Jesus Embrace Community in Aba State Nigeria. This two story structure will house up to 50 Seminarians and Formators. The second floor is reserved for novices, and external chapel completes this project.
